A Szzan Otterhound puppy

One of the world's rarest breeds

Otterhounds

Shaggy, webbed-footed, and gentler than their size suggests.

Rare, and worth keeping that way

Fewer are born each year than giant pandas.

The Otterhound is one of the rarest dog breeds on earth — bred originally in England to hunt otters along riverbanks, which is exactly where their rough, oily double coat and big webbed feet come from. Today there are only a few hundred left worldwide.

Suzanne imported Szzan's first Otterhound to help reintroduce the breed to Australia, and every litter since has been a small, deliberate contribution to keeping that number moving in the right direction — big-boned, shaggy, and entirely unbothered by their own size.

How every Otterhound puppy is raised

Good breeding, from the ground up.

The same standard applies to every Szzan litter, Papillon or Otterhound — this is what it looks like for the Otterhounds specifically.

01

Health-tested parentsEvery Otterhound in the breeding program is health tested — hips, elbows and thyroid — before any pairing is ever planned, given the breed's size.

02

Raised underfootWhelped and raised inside the house, through school pickups, vacuum cleaners and visitors, so a dog who'll grow past 45 kg arrives at that size already confident and well handled.

03

Lifetime breeder supportSuzanne stays a resource for the life of the dog — nutrition, training, health questions, whatever comes up, whenever it comes up.

04

A proper puppy packageEvery puppy leaves vet-checked, vaccinated and microchipped, with a health guarantee, a feeding and routine guide, and a settling-in pack.
